Product Description

DUCKBILL anchors, a patented labor and time saving device, work like a toggle bolt in soil. DUCKBILLS are driven into the ground (with no holes, no digging and no concrete), providing a safe and environmentally sensitive installation. An upward pull on the anchor tendon rotates the DUCKBILL into a perpendicular "anchor lock" position in undisturbed soil. The result: superb holding capacities. DUCKBILL anchor systems offer the most effective, lightweight and economical solutions to any anchoring application, large or small.

The 138 is the largest of the DUCKBILL anchors. The anchor is cabled with a 5/16 inch (7.9mm) cable. This anchor is installed with a small jackhammer and a power drive steel required. Anchor holds 5,000 lbs. in normal soil.

Choosing your kit:

  • 40 - Small anchor comes with a 1/16" galvanized cable and has a holding capacity of 300 lbs. Recommended for staking trees up to 3" in diameter.
  • 68 - Medium anchor comes with a 1/8" galvanized cable and has a holding capacity of 1,100 lbs. Recommended for staking trees up to 6" in diameter.
  • 88 - Large anchor comes with a 3/16" galvanized cable and has a holding capacity of 3,000 lbs. Recommended for staking trees up to 11" in diameter.
  • 138 II - Extra large anchor comes a 5/16" galvanized cable and has a holding capacity of 5,000 lbs. Recommended for staking trees up to 18" in diameter.

  • Drive rods are not included however they are required for installation.

HOLDING CAPAPCITY

Anchor holding capacity will vary in different soils. Increased capacities can be expected in harder soil classes (numerically higher blow count classifications) and lower capacity can be expected in the softer soil classes (numerically lower blow count).

Anchors are rated in an average (class 5) soil condition. The rating is meant to be a reference for anchor selection. Proof-loading is the only way to insure the exact capacity of each installation.

Normal Soil is defined as follows: Most Common Soil Types: Dense Fine Sand, Very Hard Silts and Clays, Dense Clays, Sands, Gravel, Hard Silts and Clays.
